Being a Tourist in Your Own City

When I moved to Toronto for school I really didn't think it was for me. I saw the city as a concrete jungle. No life. No smiling. Just work and busyness. In my fourth year of university, I had the opportunity to visit Hawaii and really fell in love with nature.

On my way home sitting on the plane, getting ready for takeoff, I started to cry. My trip to Hawaii really felt like a better life but coming back to the city didn't. When I arrived I was desperate for another vacation just keep the concrete jungle. Being a full-time student doesn't afford you that opportunity so instead, I made it my mission to be a tourist in my own city. Turns out I live next to one of the most beautiful greenhouses I've ever seen — Allan Gardens. A beautiful botanical greenhouse filled with wonder.

There was also this little sign that I walked by about four times a day on my way to and from school. It was of a map, and this was the treasure map to the city. Toronto created this project called Discovery Walks and they're little treasure hunts located around the city to take you on an adventure through all of Toronto's green spaces.

If you're dying to escape, this is it. You'll be surprised for sure. Touring these green spaces is a great way to get to know your city and it's also an incredible date idea if you really want to impress your partner!

Here are your 3 to-dos:

[  ] Print off the map so it can guide you on the adventure.

[  ] Put it in your Better Life Planner as one of your goals this week and let us know where it takes you.

[  ] Enjoy your journey around the city and onto your Better Life!

With great love,

Natasha
